Oh, I know this book. I read it on L.A. Times last Friday. I'll buy it and donate it to the school library, those cartoons are so appropriate for those English learners.
I suggest a hands off approach to Yankee Doodle. For a while, I actually thought that his blog was parody; blogspot's version of The Colbert Report. Alas, I have now concluded that he takes himself seriously.
He says: "I blog, you decide." But what he really means is: I blog and I decide who is permitted to respond to me." He says he is "a stalwart defender of traditional American values as well as the American way of life."
He is not a stalwart defender unless you consider cowardice a traditional American value and censorship an American way of life.
Yankee Doodle deletes all comments on his blog with he does not agree. When you are as extreme as he is, you will be called upon to defend your point of view. Yankee Doodle just deletes the comments because he is afraid either to defend or discuss his positions, may of which are indefensible.
I am afraid YD did not enjoy my visits and because he could not constantly monitor his blog personally so as to avoid the publication views that were contrary to his or that questioned his rationale; he changed the criteria for commenting on his site. In response to a few of my questions, he altered his site so as no longer to permit anonymous comments. Whereas it is easy enough to get past that first hurdle, he no doubt has some type of spam blocker that relegates known and unwanted addresses directly into a spam folder.
Does that sound like America to you? Restricting information?
